Squash is one of the easiest vegetables to grow in your garden, requiring very little attention and care.  With many varieties, colors, shapes, and flavors to choose from, you may want to consider planting several different types to enjoy the full range.  There are many delicious methods to cook squash.

     The simplest and most straightforward way to cook a squash is to simply bake it.  Cut the squash in half, placing both pieces cut side down in a shallow baking dish with a little bit of water in the dish.  Place the dish in a 350-degree oven and let bake until the squash is tender and easily pierced with a fork.  This baking process will probably take longer than you would expect, even up to 1 ½ hours.  This method works particularly well for acorn and butternut squashes.
