Want a backyard pool but are sure you can’t afford it? Think again my friend. There are so many ways to add a low budget DIY backyard pool to your summer without hiring expensive contractors or paying tens of thousands of dollars. Some of our favorite backyard pool ideas are those that can be completed in a weekend with no professional help whatsoever. Best of all, they look beautiful and the kids will be loving it all summer long.  I hope these DIY pool ideas inspire you to upgrade your summer! 

The easiest way to add a low budget backyard pool is to start with a basic above-ground pool, and give it a permanent space. Build a nice frame, add some strategic landscaping, and no one will know that your “built-in” pool is actually from Walmart.

If you live in the rural side of town, or you have access to several dozen hay bales, you can create your own wading pool. This option doesn’t make a very deep swim, but if you’ve got littles that just need space to splash, this is the perfect option.diy pool

One of the oldest pool tricks in the book is to used a galvanized stock tank as a backyard pool. You can use these giant galvanized tanks as a foundation to create a beautiful backyard oasis complete with stone work and a water feature, or take them as they are, add a step ladder and just let the kids have some fun. The possibilities are literally endless!

This is DIY pool idea is perhaps my favorite. This family took your average blue wading pool, and filled it up for their dogs in the summer, take the pool out and it’s a firepit underneath! Genius!

I’m not sure exactly where you’d find a dumpster or a shipping container, but if you happen to have access to one, you have an amazing foundation for a DIY backyard pool that will be the envy of the neighborhood.
